Jennifer Lester, music director
Jennifer Lester, the founder and director of The Seraphim Singers,
holds the position of Associate Music Director of the Boston Archdiocesan Choir
School at St. Paul Church, Cambridge. She is also the director of the St. Paul
Parish Choir and Associate Organist of St. Paul Church. Formerly the Music Director of St. Mary's Church in Holliston, Massachusetts, a large parish of some 2000 families and a distinguished musical tradition, she led a multi-faceted program that included three singing ensembles, two of which, for children and youth, she founded when she assumed that post in 1986.
Ms. Lester earned a Bachelor's degree in organ, with Honors, from the New England Conservatory, and her Master's degree in Choral Conducting from Yale University. She completed additional organ study in Vienna under a Fulbright grant. As a recitalist, she has performed throughout New England - including for several leading series: Friday at Trinity; Methuen Memorial Music Hall; Music at the Cathedral (St. Paul's Cathedral in Boston); and the Old West Organ Society. She has given workshops on choral conducting throughout the Boston area. A champion of new music, she has commissioned and premiered several choral works of emerging and local composers. She is a member of the Boston Bach Ensemble and a past Dean of the Boston Chapter AGO. She is also the conductor of The Philovox Ensemble, a professional chamber chorus.
